St Philomena was a brave young martyr for the Church. Born to noble parents in the 4th century, Philomena lived a life of privilege. When she was 13, she caught the attention of Emperor Diocletian. When she refused his proposal, Diocletian threw her into a dungeon and tortured. She survived many attempts against her life. Due to this, many became Christians. She was eventually beheaded and is now the patroness of youth.
