This beautiful handmade Italian Holy Communion pyx features a highly detailed motif of Michelangelo’s Pietà, commissioned by French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, the French ambassador in Rome at the time. Measuring approximately 6 cm across and 2 cm high, with an inside diameter of 4 cm and a plastic liner, it can be used either to carry Communion to the sick (only if approved by your priest) or as a case for a small rosary or jewelry. Please use it for only one purpose to remain respectful of the Eucharist. Some churches do not allow plastic-lined pyxes, in which case it makes a safe and beautiful holder for a rosary or small jewelry items instead.
