This Miraculous Medal is made up of two different pieces of metal. The border and jump ring of the metal has a gold finish, while the Miraculous medal insert is a silver oxidized piece. Measuring 1" in diameter, this sturdy medal is die-cast for exceptional detail, and silver oxidized with a rich, three dimensional silver plated finish as only the Italians in the central region of Italy have perfected. Known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, this was created by St. Catherine Laboure following a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This medal is believed to bring special intercessions on behalf of the Blessed Virgin Mary if worn with faith and devotion at the hour of death.
